According to an Osceola Police report, Corry Johnston of Des Moines was backing up in a 2000 Toyota 4Runner when he ran into a legally parked 2022 Ford Escape.

According to an Osceola Police report, Sandra Gonzalez Rivas of Des Moines was backing a 2016 Toyota Tundra when she hit the front of a legally parked 2026 Nissan Frontier. Gonzalez Rivas then left without reporting the crash, but was located via video footage.
Damages are estimated at $0 to the Toyota and $200 and minor to the Nissan. ––––– No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident April 23 in the 100 block of West McLane Street.
According to an Osceola Police report, Maribel Torres of Osceola was traveling east on West McLane Street in a 2023 GMC Sierra and was in the middle turning lane intending to turn north onto Highway 69. As Torres was traveling east in the turn lane, a 2008 Nissan Maxima driven by Christian Nevarez of Murray merged in front of her without a turn signal, causing them to collide in the intersection. Nevarez told officers he had been traveling east when he went to merge into the turning lane and had not seen Torres. Officers later reviewed video footage at Casey’s General Store in which it appeared Nevarez had merged in front of Torres.
Damages are estimated at $1,500 and minor to both vehicles. --- Property damages were reported following an accident April 29 in the 200 block of South Fillmore Street.
According to an Osceola Police report, Sultan Williams of Omaha, Nebraska, had driven a 2024 International semi through a city-owned parking lot to get to Dollar General, as that parking lot was full. In doing so, Williams damaged a new sidewalk and also a trailer that was parked in the city lot.
Damages are estimated at $0 to the International, $750 to the trailer and $1,000 to the sidewalk owned by the city of Osceola. ––––– No injuries were reported following a single car accident April 28 at 116 1/2 W. Webster St.
According to an Osceola Police report, Shirley Cook of Van Wert was at the Hard Rock Car Wash in a 2017 Ford Explorer when the car wash machine instructed her to back up. As she did so, the left rear of her vehicle hit a brick structure that contained the credit card reader and wash selection instructions.

According to an Osceola Police report, James Hamilton of Osceola was traveling east on Jeffreys Drive in a 2002 GMC Sierra. At the stop sign of the intersection of Jeffreys and Furnas drive, Hamilton said as he proceeded through the intersection, he was hit by a northbound 2014 Dodge Ram driven by Gavin Page of Osceola.
Page told officers as he was leaving the stop sign he had seen Hamilton, but thought he could make it through the intersection ahead of him.
Damages are estimated at $1,000 and minor to the GMC and $3,500 and functional to the Ram. ––––– One vehicle sustained severe damages in a May 10 accident on Interstate 35.
According to an Osceola Police report, the driver of a 2006 Ford F150 was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 approaching exit 33. Just before the exit, the driver ran off the road on the west, went down the hill, ran into a road sign and continued moving until hitting a tree at the bottom of the hill. The driver then fled the scene, and officers were unable to make contact at the driver’s residence.
Damages are estimated at $10,000 to the Ford and $5,000 to the highway sign owned by the Iowa DOT.
––––– Minor damages were reported following an accident May 10 on the Interstate 35 off-ramp to Highway 34.
According to an Osceola Police report, Chelsea Kriegler of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, was exiting Interstate 35 to Highway 34 in a 2025 Mazda. Behind Kriegler was a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Athanasios Berbos of Saint Louis Park, Minnesota. At the top sign at the end of the exit ramp, Berbos hit the back of Kriegler’s vehicle.

According to an Osceola Police report, Lucas Webster of Leon was exiting the Casey’s parking lot at 100 W. McLane St. onto Highway 69 in a 2016 Ford Edge. As he did so, Webster did not see a 2019 Chevrolet Trax headed south on Highway 69 driven by Chrystopher Hanscom of Osceola. The vehicles collided in the roadway, causing disabling damage to both vehicles.
Damages are estimated at $5,000 to both vehicles.

According to an Osceola Police report, Donna Gillam of Corydon was traveling east through a parking lot in a 2018 Ford Edge when Juan Echeverria of Osceola backed out of a parking stall in a 2011 Ford F150 and struck Gillam.
Damages are estimated at $350 to the 2018 Ford and $0 to the 2011 Ford.
